Bumblets

Bumblets are a group of quadrupedal burrowing canaries of Serina's Pangeacene era, 228 million years after the first birds were introduced to the terraformed moon. While ancestrally subterranean, some forms - such as these - have secondarily returned to the sunlit world above, arming themselves in defensive quills to make up for their lack of agility. In the distance a circuagodont - a terrestrial descendant of the live-bearing poecillid fishes introduced at the same time as the canaries - grazes on the plains.
