Dante is a tidally-locked planet eternally half emersed in sunlight and bathed in complete darkness. Along the thin twilight band, a nomadic family of the native sophonts known as "Horsemen", with a domestic fell beast in tow, are confronted by a pair of aerial predators known - most ironically - as "angels". Ferocious and intelligent, the family may this time escape unscathed; the presence of the enormous, roaring quadruped alien amongst the group of small nomads is seemingly disconcerting to the lithe flying animals which, unlike they or the Horsemen, can 'see' their world only through the clicks of their sonar, lacking true eyes. Though they are fast and aggressive, they're relatively weak. A single gore from the fell beast's radular tusks could easily be fatal, and with the warriors of the group already armed and aware, they have already lost the element of surprise.
But even if they don't feed tonight, they will always return to try again. Danger is no stranger on Dante.
